College, University, Public or Private: For Some, It Doesn't Matter
61Education is important and beneficial for those seeking a career or a higher paying job.
It’s beneficial for more professionalism. The benefits, salaries, and the ability to go on vacations, most importantly, you get to do the job or career of your choice.
That is the best thing about a college education, it preps you for working, doing your job.
I just want to add, that’s the way it’s supposed to be, and if it could fully be that, things would be awesome
And then there are the other things people go to school for like arts. This is usually to be better at what they’re doing and to be professionally critiqued.
What I want to inform you readers is that, the critical critiquing that you’re going through in college is not ever going to stop.
For us, the artists, critiquing will never end. You can become a freaking world class painter, writer, screenwriter, actor, chef, etc…it doesn’t matter.
Our work could be world class perfect and famous and awesome, and still the producer or people that must take a gander at our work will critique it before approving it.
And they may not, still, approve it.

The Reason for This Awareness
The reason I’m bringing this up to everyone is because of a conversation I’ve had over and over again with many people.
They always begin with why didn’t I got to school for Creative Writing instead of Political Science and Geography.
With Political Science I get to label myself, writer, but not Creative Writer. I’m okay with that.
The reason why I’m so okay with it is because I know that being a Creative Writer means having, most of all, a style and a very, very, good and constantly creating imagination.
My imagination has contributed to me never ever really having a boring day.
People have come to me and told me that having a college education under Creative Writing was going to make things all better. That’s all you need to be a writer, and write fiction novels and short stories, a college degree that says Creative Writer.
I’ve been writing ever since I was twelve years old and up, I can write. Just like people that have been painting and drawing ever since they were young, they can draw and paint.
Sure, you need more. You need to be able to reach people with your writings and paintings.
You need to know what you’re doing to reach people is the right way and if not, you need to know and understand the actual way to reach people.
That’s what colleges and universities are for. That’s basically all they contribute, with history. That still isn’t enough though.
The truth we all know, as artists, is that you’re not going to be able to reach everyone. Not everyone is going to understand what you’re talking about in your story.
Most people won’t be interested at all in your subject.
Most people don’t know how to view and appreciate art.
Most people stand and look at a painting or a sculpture and don’t have any idea what they’re looking for in it.
It doesn't matter which college or university you go to, you have to be good, if not great a what you do.
Universities and colleges give you the critiquing, guidance, but not the style and skills, you have to create the rest.
My Point Is
There is no school for us really.
There’s just the ability to be put in a position in which we can get feedback as our work grows.
We don’t have a particular school that’s going to be the place that makes us world renowned and allow us to never be critiqued, denied, or shot-down.
So when you go to college, don’t, like so many other people, expect for that degree or the name of that College or University to be the ultimate reason why your work, as an artist, is accepted. It won't be.
It's you that makes your work attractive.
And don't worry, there are plenty of ways to get your writings or art critiqued, you don't necessarily need a college for that.
You do need a college or university for history in writing and art, and a certification would be good too.
However, don't make the mistake of choosing a school thinking it will give you the benefit of never being critiqued, shot-down, or turned away, because that's not true for artists.
